Service Project – Nov. 2

At this month’s service activity, we had the fortunate opportunity to hear from Angela Krois. She has several important responsibilities as CEO of LifeWay Arts LLC, Chairman of @TimeToRescue and volunteer with Operation Underground Railroad.
Underground Railroad is a non-profit organization that assists governments around the world in the rescue of human trafficking and sex trafficking victims with a special focus on children. In Krois’ address to BYU PRSSA she passionately conveyed the problem of sex trafficking as it appears in the state of Utah. Currently, Utah has one of the highest rates of trafficked youth in the United States. She requested our help in spreading the word about O.U.R.’s outreach programs and newly released film “The Abolitionists,” that will be shown at BYU this week. In the short time of three years, O.U.R. has been responsible for the rescue of 549 victims and the arrests of more than 243 traffickers around the world.
During our activity, we were involved with several different tasks including: writing uplifting notes to victims of abuse, creating social media posts to spread awareness of the cause and had a competition to create an info-graphic for the organization. For more information about getting involved, look at Time To Rescue on Facebook.
